I loved Akatora in this! Also...if the Koga's were so war hungry why didn't they just attack Ben's group, or kill Hyena in the first place? Seems like they showed some hint of mercy....or maybe they were intimidated by the large number of dogs. Though they trusted the Iga, with their ten dogs to do it. It's another one of those mysterious Ginga things I guess.

Ah GNG, I'm not too fond of the early recruitments, where every battle is just some misunderstanding. It was interesting to see the Kouga dogs didn't have their classic mohawks to begin with, it just seemed to develop into that later. Thanks for the volume!
It feels like something is missing between page 9 and page 10??? It goes from Ben talking straight to Jaguar talking about their supposed invasion... weird.
Smith gets a lot more funny lines in the manga than the anime. 'I don't wanna die in your arms! I'm not gay!' The anime doesn't have much comedy at all, does it?
God, John gets owned by Riki entirely too easily. Wish they'd left that in the anime.
I've never fully understood Sniper's plan, either. He has no interest in killing the bears, just taking over Ou. Well, what does he think the bears are gonna do about that?
I like Gin's mini-breakdown over Ben's apparent death. I get the feeling it's like losing another father figure for him. Ben himself is pretty badass, which is something I didn't really appreciate when I first watched ASD's horrible old subs.
I also like that the Kouga's manes are a lot more understated in this. They're not so hyena-like.
This volume probably marks the first time I get irritated with Gin, diving down that hole while giving Ben orders. I can let it slide, though, for the fact that it seems to be done out of sheer enthusiasm and drive to save Smith.
I agree with Kek, too, about the first few major battles being based on silly misunderstandings. These dogs have very poor communication skills. 8|
