GDA Volume 1 Front Cover
Full Page of the Akame Generations
Our Changes / Additions in the English version:
The English title of 'Legend of Silver Fang' has been changed to 'Silver Fang Legacy' since the official translation is actually incorrect.
In the generations line page, the left side of Ouzaru's face and his tail are horribly cropped; I fixed his face and added an outline.
Hakutaka's tail was also missing a chunk; I fixed it.
The end page is an explanation on Shirakami's name and how there is NO OFFICIAL READING OF HIS NAME. DO NOT let people lie to you about how to pronounce his name unless they can show you the furigana (as explained in the page).
Thanks to Kaidog for scanning with his usual beautiful quality.
Please advertise and share these on other Ginga sites to help spread the word!
Other than Ouzaru being red, I really like this! I hope Yoshi doesn't get bored with this series, I really do. The cover page [the one with Akame, Gin, and Weed], looks so odd because it seems fairly obvious they pasted the dogs in there post, just look at those bad, bad shadows. But I'm really lovin' the art, I have to say.
I just noticed the little shuriken in Akame's name on the title. I don't know why... it's pretty obvious. I guess that's cute, but it doesn't successfully distract us from how even though the background for the cover is finally painted, the dogs themselves are just really lazily pasted in there, since all the perspective angles are way off with the background. And each of the three dogs has a different perspective angle from the others, but they're ALL still wrong for the background. Gin doesn't even have a shadow at all.
Also Shirakami looks like he's giving that one cocked eyebrow look since his eyes are a bit lopsided (as well as all his facial proportions, really) and his right one is more half-lidded than the other.
Oh, yes... That's a thing. That's a thing I made a reality for you. :studmuffinplz:
“Akame has continued to support the Ohu army as the right-hand man to Riki” Oh no you didn't. :lookofshock: We've been over this, Yoshi, why are you even trying to make that a thing still. Stahp it. Okay moving on.
I'm somewhat shocked to see Ouzaru's color. I was over here picturing him to be more dark, maybe not completely black but definitely a lot darker than what he ended up being. And I certainly didn't expect there to be so much white in his fur! I was just thinking his two spots were the only lighter parts, and still not necessarily even close to white. It's going to take me some time to get used to this design since I was so sure about him being like a shadow in the night, but oh well. I wish we'll get to see more colored pictures of him in the future.
I'm also seriously beginning to wish that this series won't be a short one, and that Yoshi would follow the bloodline all the way down to Akame. Obviously not with each dog, but at least with the ones pictured here and maybe couple generations between them. I'm aching to see Ukon and Shirakami in action! Mostly Ukon because I'd be thoroughly disappointed if Shirakami is not the suave ladies man that Kit just sold to me. Thanks for that.
Well, Sneeper, Gin and Ben were all really just the mascots, don'cha know? And yeah, I imagined Ouzaru as a dark brown, as well, but then a chapter came out in the Goraku with some color pages, and he was golden... And now he's red. YOSHI, MAKE UP UR MIND, MMK?
Don't worry. If Shirakami does make an appearance, I'll make sure to translate everything he says with as much innuendo as possible. :heytharplz:

Don't be so harsh, after all it is just a manga. Maybe in couple volumes Ouzaru will be green!
I'm all for suave Shirakami, and I'm going to picture him talking with the voice of Old Spice guy. "Look at your Akame, now back to me, now back at your Akame, now back to me. Sadly, he isn't me. But if he stopped arriving late to rescues, he could be like m... no wait, he couldn't. Back to me."
I didn't realize I needed this, but I really did. That dog is too suave for me! /swoon If he does get a chance to speak, I shall endeavor to read all of Shirakami's lines in Antonio Banderas's voice. :iheartitplz:
Oh my god, now I can't think of him saying anything WITHOUT hearing it in Banderas' voice.
I'm 100% alright with this.
Them be some awesome scans, lovely translations to accompany them, and some bonus information to boot! Thank ya'll much, kaidog, Kit, and M-92 Mantis!
It's true, I was expecting a little bit more from the cover but I gotta say I'm likin' the 'cleaner' presentation they got going on. To me at least, the spine and covers (besides the akita's disregard of perspective) feel super clean and pretty aesthetically pleasing. I do hope they can keep this up and perhaps explore some of those generations they highlighted, I'm (tentatively) pretty excited for this new series.
Behold, my awful beautiful Paint skills! I present you Shirakami as Antonio Banderas as Zorro. And here is a random quote for Mask of Zorro that is completely relevant: Shirakami: "Do you surrender?" "Never, but I may scream!" Shirakami: "I understand. Sometimes I have that effect."
Avatar drawn by me. GB emoticon by the lovely Kaidog.
Really, we've seen the red dogs (Sasuke, Riki, Orion, etc) have different tone on like every pic they're on, so Ôzaru I don't care wich tone he has on fur. Though, I still don't understand his white markings in the coloured version (as much as I don't understand Yamabiko and Kojûrô in GDWO)...
Jeez, now you've making me remember Antonio Banderas voice. i do hope when Ôzaru's and Hakutaka's time is over we do need to know more about Ukon and Shirakami (and Shirakami's real name with furigana).
